10 Best Mobile Web Products of 2009

Read Write Web has created a list of the top 10 Mobile Web Products for 2009 which includes some of the biggest names which emerged in 2009. Some of them being:

1. Facebook 3.0 for iPhone:

Though this app’s developer Joe Hewitt has controversially stopped developing the app recently, Facebook 3.0 for iPhone has to be one of the best application designed on the iPhone Platform which boasts of 100,000 applications now. Its simple grid layout with just 9 buttons on the screen and the ease with which you can upload photos/videos will make any laymen who is using the app, a facebook addict. And the Best Part is that its absolutely free.

2. Tweetie 2:

Tweetie 2 developed by Atebits.com has be to the best twitter app ever designed for the iPhone. With its slick UI, ability to video tweet, support for geolocation, offline mode and many more makes it an irrestible twitter app on the iPhone interface even though its a paid app ($2.99).

3. Twidroid:

Twidroid

A popular Android Twitter client, which got updated just today to v3.0, is one of the must have application on your Android device. Its clean and very easy to use interface with well designed buttons for all the basic features like Mentions, Direct Messages, etc makes it an absolute easy to tweet from your device and with the recently announced Plugin Platform, this app will simply rise in popularity.

4. Google Voice:

Google’s flagship, free Internet service that uses VoIP technology to link 2 phone numbers together, was in a lot of news this year, all with Apple rejecting the app from entering the App store, FCC investigating about the whole matter and then Apple denying that it has not rejected the app and is still “reviewing” the application. But Google then went ahead and announced Google Voice Mobile Apps for both BlackBerry and Android with no sight of the illusive iPhone App as yet.

5. Spotify:

The Popular Swedish On-Demand Music Subscription launched its Mobile Apps on the iPhone and Android Platform this September and followed it up with a Symbian client for all the Nokia Phones around the world is exponentially growing its fan community in Europe and plans to raise it even more with an US launch in 2010.

6. Google Maps Navigation:

It created a havoc when Google announced this product. Termed to be the GPS Killer, Google Maps Navigation is an internet connected GPS Navigation system which comes along with voice guidance for Android 2.0 and more, which Google then expanded to include all the devices running on Android 1.6 as well. Not only does this mobile app gives you the latest maps including satellite and street views, it also includes many other important features like traffic views, voice search, and turn-by-turn navigation etc.

7. Layar:

Layar represents the next big thing in the mobile technology i.e. Augmented Reality. By displaying a special data layer on top of your mobile’s camera screen, Layar literally combines the digital world along with real world along with many additional information about the object/place we are viewing. For Ex. Information about  any nearby restaurants or ATM’s etc.

However, one of the glaring omission we found in the above list was the trendsetting new version of the Opera Browser (Opera Mini + Opera Mobile) which got launched recently.  With an amazing UI, speed dial, multiple tab support , copy/paste from webpages, fast pageloads, password manager, browser shortcuts, bookmarks manager and more, this application has be to one of the best Symbian application which has been released ever.
