Android 2.0 “Eclair” Officially Released
Google has officially launched Android 2.0 Eclair today, along with complete SDK support for all the developers.
The Major Changes to this new Version are :
- Support for Multiple Google Accounts and Exchange accounts.
- Developers can now create sync adapters that provide synchronization with additional data sources and also can pull in contacts from multiple accounts.
- Quick Contact for Android provides instant access to a contact’s information and communication modes. i.e. An user can now tap a contact photo and select to call, SMS, or email the person
- An Unified Inbox to browse email from multiple accounts in a single page.
- SMS/MMS Search and Auto Deletion of the oldest messages in a conversation when a specific limit is reached.
- Built-in flash support for the camera along with Digital zoom, Scene mode, White balance, Color effect and Macro focus.
- An Improved keyboard layout to makes it easier to hit the correct characters and improve typing speed. Also the framework’s multi-touch support now ensures that key presses aren’t missed while typing rapidly with two fingers.
- A smarter dictionary learns from word usage and automatically includes contact names as suggestions.
- Ability to directly tap the address bar for instant searches and navigation.
- Bookmarks with web page thumbnails and double-tap zoom support
- HTML5 Support along with Database API, Application cache, Geolocation API
- A new Bluetooth 2.1 API along with Object Push Profile (OPP) and Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP)
