Android 2.1 SDK now out



After the launch of Nexus One last week, Android Dev Team has now released the SDK for Android 2.1.

Android 2.1 is just a minor platform release deployable to Android-powered handsets starting in January 2010. This release includes some new API changes and bug fixes to its previous version, Android 2.0.

New features in Android 2.1 are:

  1. Addition of Live Wallpapers.
  2. A New App Launcher.
  3. Voice Recognition.
  4. More number of Home Screens.
  5. Some WebKit changes like manipulating web storage databases, getting Geolocation permissions and setting them on the WebView etc.
  6. New methods for managing settings for app cache, web storage,zooming based on screen density.
  7. New methods for handling video, browsing history, custom Views, app cache limits, and more.
