Android Developers get a chance to win free BlackBerry Playbook 2.0s
BlackBerry seems to be taking its PlayBook marketing very seriously. As reported earlier, the new BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins confirmed that the BlackBerry 10 devices and the PlayBook 2.0 will have integrated Android app players installed.
As a promotional offer and to probably increase the number of apps on the device, RIM is willing to give out free BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0s to Android app developers who submit their refurbished Android app for use on the BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0 update. App developers should have no crunch in getting their work to run on the PlayBook as it already has the Android app player installed. In order to get themselves listed on BlackBerry App World following the PlayBook 2.0 update, the developers have to submit their app by 6th February. The apps must be submitted by 13th February in order to receive the PlayBook. Speculations are that the update for the PlayBook 2.0 will arrive by February 17th.
Although a few coding changes will be necessary, this is definitely a one-time offer. Changing the APK to BAR might not do the job and a few lines of code might have to be changed to remove all Android references but the free PlayBook 2.0 is surely more than worthy of the implemented work time. This surely puts all app developers on the highest alert. All the best to one and all.
