Apple acquires Chomp; iTunes/App Store overhaul to follow

Apple has acquired Chomp, an app search and discovery platform. With over half a million apps in the Apple’s app store it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find good/worthy apps. Apple recently surpassed 25 billion app downloads from the App Store. With the acquisition, Apple plans to completely overdo the iTunes/App store.

The terms of the deal aren’t out yet, but MG Seigler from Techcrunch reports all the investors in Chomp should be pleased, which has raised $2.5 million over two rounds of funding.

According to 9to5mac, Chomp CEO Ben Keighran and CTO Cathy Edwards are already at work at Apple.

Keighran has joined the iTunes Marketing team and Edwards is now a Senior iTunes Engineer.
