Apple and Samsung might dominate 2012 mobile market

Mobile phones were once a luxury only made available to the richer class. But now-a-days every kid on the street owns one. With the emerging growth of mobile phone users the companies too are expanding endlessly. Apple and Samsung seem to have come out victorious in this rat race. Their 2011 sales itself went over the roof and analysts predict that there is a lot more to come in 2012.

UBS analyst Maynard Um after reading the reports said that smartphones are dominating the cell phone market with more than 75% of the industry revenues coming from them even though in volume they add up to only 30% of the market. Um particularly focused on Apple and Samsung and disclosed how they have flooded the market with over 55% of industry revenues and over 90% of total [profits before tax].

All these reports are from the fourth quarter earnings of Apple and Samsung. Their success streak seems to glide past 2012 too as everyone is restlessly awaiting the launch of iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S III.
