Asus announces Transformer Pad series and PadFone

Asus announced its Phone-Tablet hybrid — PadFone at the Mobile World Congress 2012 held in Barcelona. While PadFone is just any other phone with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD display, a dual-core Snapdragon processor, an 8 Megapixel camera, and runs on Android Ice Cream Sandwich. The phone can be docked into the PadFone station to transform into a full fledged 10.1-inch tablet.

To make the transition between the phone and tablet seamless, Asus has developed a new technology called Dynamic Display.

Asus PadFone

Apart from the PadFone, Asus has also announced two new tablets —  a new affordable Transformer Pad 300 and Tranformer Pad Infinity.

Asus Transformer Pad 300

The Transformer Pad 300 is an affordable tablet which features NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad core processor and runs on Android 4.0, a 10.1-inch IPS display with 1280*800 pixel density, 1GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory (expandable via MicroSD card), 8 Mega Pixel rear camera and LTE connectivity. The Transformer Pad 300 is essentially the critically acclaimed Transformer Prime with downgraded display.

The WiFi only version is available for $399 and will be available for purchase by Q2 2012.

Asus Transformer Pad Infinity 700

The Transformer Pad Infinity 700, is actually the rebranded TF700T that we saw at the CES 2012. Asus has ditched NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad core processor in favor of dual core Qualcomm S4 SoC. Yet, the WiFi only version of Transformer Pad Infinity 700 will feature the Tegra 3 processor.

So it essentially comes in two form — Wi-Fi only version which comes  with 1.6GHz Tegra 3 processor and LTE version with 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 Krait.

Asus Transformer Pad Infinity 700 features  Super IPS Plus 10.1 inch display with 1920*1200 pixel density, 8 Mega Pixel rear camera, 2 Mega Pixel front camera, 1GB RAM, 16/32/64GB internal memory and Android 4.0. The display also comes with Gorilla glass 2.

Like the Transformer Pad 300, the Transformer Pad Infinity 700 is also scheduled to be available in Q2 of 2012. There’s no word on the pricing yet, we’ll keep you updated as soon as we hear from Asus.
