Apple seems to have its roots grounded in the Chinese market. China Telecom, the country’s third largest phone operator may launch the CDMA version of the iPhone 4S in February this year, reports People’s Daily.
According to the report, Beijing Telecom Co Ltd, a subsidiary of China Telecom has stated that it intends to launch the phone by February-end or early March since it has acquired all three necessary operating licenses for the iPhone 4S CDMA2000 network-version. However the pricing details were not disclosed yet.
Apple CEO Tim Cook had recently stated during Apple’s Q1 2012 conference call that they have seen “a ton of energy” in China, however China Unicom is still the only operator offering iPhone on contract. This deal will enable them to increase iPhone sales in the country and hopefully surpass its competitors like Nokia, Samsung and Huawei in the country.
