Google Docs get a native Android app

Google just released an official Android app for Google Docs. This app lets you to filter and search documents you have on your Google account. You can also edit your documents online and share them with contacts you have on your phone. Pretty neat!

For creating a document, you can either upload one from your phone or snap a picture of some printed text and the app converts the text part into a new editable document. This uses some technology which Google calls Optical Character Recognition (OCR). While for now it won’t recognize handwritten text and some fonts but Google promises it will get better over time and we sincerely hope it does.

The App also sports a home-screen widget through which you can create a new document with just one tap or jump right into your starred document.

Google Docs is now available for free for all Android 2.1+ phones and you can get it from Android marketplace right away or by scanning the QR Code below.
