Twitter tests a new mobile interface

December 4th, 2009 | Comments | Posted in Android, Nokia, iPhone

Finally, after a long wait. Twitter is now considering improvements to their mobile interface. For long, Twitter Mobile had just been a basic website with no features, the desktop version enjoys, like the newly introduced “Retweet” functionality or the Twitter lists. Let alone that, the mobile interface didnt have even a basic @reply, Direct message feature on its mobile interface.

Considering all that, twitter has now announced that it is previewing a new mobile web site http://mobile.twitter.com which works well on all the Browsers based on Webkit i.e. Android, iPhone, Nokia S60 and Palm Web OS phones devices. The website works on BlackBerry as well but it is still not fine-tuned as yet.

And as this preview becomes ready for prime time, Twitter will start switching everyone who uses ‘m.twitter.com’ in phases to automatically receive the new mobile web client.

Here are some screenshots of the new mobile version of Twitter. Check it out.
