Verizon’s Droid ad directly aimed at iPhone

October 18th, 2009 | Comments | Posted in Android, Motorola

Verizon today unveiled the ad of Motorola Droid and looks like it is aimed directly at the iPhone.

It basically picks up all the major weaknesses on the iPhone, right from its inability to run background applications, lack of Flash, lack of Physical keyboard, closed nature of the App Store etc and after a while, it shows up the heading “DroidDoes”. Interestingly, the ad is also modelled on a “black text-on-white background” which is so commonly featured in all the Apple ads.

The Droid runs on Google Android 2.0. It features a 5-megapixel camera with a flash, supports multi-tasking, Has both a physical keyboard and also touch screen keyboard.

Verizon has also kicked off a website DroidDoes.com where in it depicts you all the features of the soon to-be released Motorola Droid. So could this be a real competition to the iPhone? Only time will tell. What do you think? Let us know your comments below.
